An over-collar bandana is a triangle with a stitched sleeve along the top edge. The collar threads through the sleeve, and that is the entire fastening. There is no knot, so there is nothing that can be pulled tighter and nothing that stays on the dog if the collar comes off.

That makes it the right default for any dog left alone, crated, boarded or working near fences and undergrowth — the places where a tied bandana can catch and will not let go.

The measurement that decides fit is the collar WIDTH, not the dog. A sleeve cut for a fifteen millimetre puppy strap will not pass over a forty millimetre strap however generous the triangle is, so we ask for both the neck circumference and the strap width before quoting.
